Liverpool will now face Villarreal in the semi-finals of the Champions League – and that means taking on their transfer target Arnaut Danjuma.

The Reds advanced past Benfica in the last round, securing a 6-4 aggregate win as the goals flew in during both legs.

Villarreal now await in the last four after the Spanish side produced another huge result, beating Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals.

Despite already dumping out Bayern and Juventus, Villarreal aren’t being given much of a chance against Liverpool.

Villarreal will pose a major threat though and Liverpool will know all about the danger winger Danjuma can provide.

Danjuma, 25, has racked up 14 goals and four assists in 32 games for Villarreal this season.

The Dutch winger has tormented many defenders in Spain and around Europe since joining from Bournemouth last summer.

Liverpool will have seen what Danjuma can do – especially as they fancy signing him.

Goal recently reported that Liverpool think Danjuma can be a replacement for Sadio Mane in the future.

With a £63million release clause, Danjuma isn’t exactly cheap but Liverpool seem very interested.

That’s despite signing Luis Diaz during the January transfer window, with the Colombian seemingly poised for stardom down the Liverpool left.

Danjuma does provide the ability to play through the middle too though, which may be why he is being eyed to succeed Mane.

Seeing Danjuma in action against the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konate will give Liverpool a great chance to see whether the Dutch international can take another leap.

Danjuma has played in the Premier League with Bournemouth but wasn’t quite at his best.

Now fit and firing under Unai Emery, Danjuma seems primed for a huge future.

This semi-final clash will become something of an audition for Danjuma, who will be focused on dumping Liverpool out of the Champions League – but it could lead to an Anfield move.
