Harry Winks hasn’t reacted well to Tottenham Hotspur’s defeat on Saturday.
Spurs went into their visit of Brighton & Hove Albion with a four-match winning streak in the Premier League.
That run of form had made Tottenham favourites to finish in the fourth and final Champions League qualification place, ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United.
However, the Lilywhites got their weekend off to a shocker by losing 1-0 to the Seagulls in North London.
It was an awful all-round performance by Antonio Conte’s outfit and it’s probable that Winks might’ve caught a bit of criticism on social media.
That’s because the 26-year-old midfielder – who only played 16 minutes against Albion – has seemingly unfollowed Tottenham on Instagram.
On Twitter, he also ‘liked’ a tweet which pointed out how absurd it is to blame him for the result, suggesting that a portion of the fanbase had singled him out for criticism.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if the Hotspur Way graduate tried to leave Tottenham this summer – and there’s already speculation.
In March, Calciomercato reported that Conte and Fabio Paratici could look to swap him for Southampton star Valentino Livramento.
If Winks has come in for criticism, it’s ridiculous.
If being ineffective in a football match is a crime then every other player in a Tottenham shirt was also guilty against Brighton.
From front to back, it was a horrendous performance and although Winks is an easy target, it doesn’t mean he’s the right one.
