Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing RB Leipzig ace Konrad Laimer – and his assist against Atalanta has shown exactly why they’e interested.
With the end of the season in sight, Tottenham are of course being linked with a host of players from all across Europe.
Their transfer business may well depend on Champions League qualification, which has been thrown in doubt after losing to Brighton and Hove Albion.
Despite a promising partnership between Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Tottenham continue to be linked with new midfielders.
Laimer is one of them, with Bild reporting earlier this month that Tottenham fancy signing the RB Leipzig star.
The Austrian ace, 24, is also wanted by Manchester United with his displays in Germany attracting major interest.
Laimer started in central midfield alongside Kevin Kampl against Atalanta on Thursday night and provided a superb assist.
Released down the right flank, Laimer led a lightning-quick Leipzig counter, running all the way through on goal.
When Atalanta stopper Juan Musso came off his line, Laimer cut the ball back to Christopher Nkunku for 1-0.
Leipzig ended up winning 2-0 and securing a passage into the last four of the Europa League. In the semi-finals, they will meet Rangers.

Tottenham will surely be watching his displays against Rangers but will surely have been impressed against Atalanta.
Even commentator Guy Mowbray was blown away by Laimer, praising his speed as he raced away.
“That’s a heck of a pass, collected by Laimer – look at the pace! He’s left Freuler way behind,” said Mowbray on BT Sport.
That kind of pace has to be appealing to Tottenham, with Bentancur and Hojbjerg hardly likely to blaze past anybody.
Laimer would just bring something different to the Tottenham side with his athletic ability, versatility and relentless running.
Leipzig likely won’t want to sell, but you can absolutely understand why Tottenham are casting admiring glances in the Austrian’s direction.
