Arsenal are interested in signing Norwich City defender Max Aarons this summer as they continue to be linked with right backs.

That’s according to The Sun, who claim that Aarons is attracting major interest ahead of the transfer window.

Manchester United are believed to be keen, with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund also in the race.

Arsenal are named as a suitor too, with Norwich allegedly willing to sell for around £20million.

Aarons has two years left on his Norwich deal and, having been linked with a move for many years, this summer could be the right time.

The 22-year-old has two years left on his Norwich contract and looks set to suffer his second relegation.

Aarons still has major untapped potential even if he hasn’t quite hit the heights many expected of him early in his career.

A quick adventurous right back, Aarons may not be seen as the perfect complement to Takehiro Tomiyasu in the Arsenal squad.

Tomiyasu is strong defensively but Arsenal continue to be linked with more adventurous right backs like Djed Spence and now Aarons.

It seems that Mikel Arteta wants to bring in a more attack-minded option in that area and Aarons could be the man – especially if Norwich go down.

North London rivals Tottenham had a long-standing interest in Aarons but Jose Mourinho seemingly kiboshed that one.

The Athletic report that whilst Tottenham liked Aarons, Mourinho simply thought he was too small.

This was in the summer of 2020 and Mourinho instead chose to sign the more physically robust Matt Doherty at right back.

Tottenham’s missed opportunity could be Arsenal’s gain in the end, with the Gunners now showing a keen interest in Aarons.

With United keen on adding competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot, this chase won’t be easy for Arsenal – but it could give them the ideal option Arteta wants.
