Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain may be better off leaving the club after being snubbed once again on Wednesday night.
The Reds hosted Benfica in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday.
Leading 3-1 from the first leg, Liverpool drew 3-3 at Anfield and had something of a late scare but came through unscathed.
Jurgen Klopp decided to rotate his side. The likes of Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson, Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane were all left on the bench.
That meant chances for fringe players in the Liverpool starting lineup – but still no Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita and James Milner started in the Liverpool midfield. Oxlade-Chamberlain didn’t even come off the bench.
Milner is out of contract this summer and was still picked ahead of Oxlade-Chamberlain.
If you look at the 28-year-old’s minutes of late, it paints a pretty telling picture.
Since starting the 3-1 Premier League win over Norwich City on February 19th, Oxlade-Chamberlain hasn’t played a single Premier League minute.
Not one.
His only minutes have come in the FA Cup, meaning Klopp isn’t even picking him in the Champions League either.
Almost five years on from joining Liverpool in a huge £35million deal, the writing appears to be on the wall for Oxlade-Chamberlain.
It’s clear that Klopp simply prefers other midfielders right now; Fabinho, Henderson, Thiago, Keita, Milner, Curtis Jones.

With Luis Diaz on board, there is no chance for Oxlade-Chamberlain to feature Liverpool’s front three either.
Quite simply, last night’s snub – with Liverpool rotating players – should spell the end for Oxlade-Chamberlain at Liverpool.
Oxlade-Chamberlain for Newcastle?
The Times recently reported that Newcastle wanted to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain in January and that move this summer could make sense.
Newcastle can give Oxlade-Chamberlain a bigger role, may have the money to spend on a deal and girlfriend Perrie Edwards hails from South Shields.
With no sign of Oxlade-Chamberlain in the Premier League for almost two months, he simply needs to move – and heading to Newcastle may not be the worst idea.
