Fabrizio Romano says that a deal is getting closer for Manchester City to complete the signing of Dortmund powerhouse Erling Haaland. He has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for £62million this summer.
Haaland, 21, is considered one of the best young talents in world football at the moment – scoring goals for fun already. He has a breathtaking 80 goals in 84 games for Dortmund – 23 of which have come this term, in 25 games.
Marca, among other outlets, report that there is a clause in his current deal that will allow him to leave Dortmund for £62million this summer. The race is hotting up and it looks like Manchester City are winning the race.
Now, Italian journalist and transfer expert Romano delivers an update in City’s pursuit of the striker. He says “direct contacts are ongoing” to sign the striker – and that Pep Guardiola wants the Norwegian “at all costs”.
Romano on Haaland: Manchester City is his only real destination
The clubs that can afford him – Bayern Munich, PSG, City, Manchester United, possibly Juventus. Juve are not the top team, Bayern have Robert Lewandowski and PSG have Lionel Messi. That leaves City and United.
But Haaland will never join the latter, and that is surely down to his Father, Alf Inge. He played for both Leeds and Manchester City, two of United’s biggest rivals. Haaland was also born in Leeds. City is his only choice.
