Dele Alli may don Everton colours now, but he certainly hasn’t forgotten his days at Tottenham Hotspur.
On Monday, the attacking midfielder celebrated his 26th birthday and he did so with four Spurs players, Heung-Min Son, Pierluigi Gollini, Eric Dier and Ryan Sessegnon.
Alli posted on Instagram ‘good to catch up with some of my bros as well’, as he thanked his followers for their birthday wishes.
Alli left Spurs during the January transfer window for Everton, as Frank Lampard brought him on board the troubled Merseyside club.
It was a great chance for the 37-cap England international to pick up a career that has stagnated for a number of years now.
But whilst Spurs fans enjoy Son scoring a hat-trick at Villa Park, which puts them in a commanding position for Champions League football.
For Alli, things have gone backwards for him at Goodison Park, as he is yet to start a game for the 17th-placed side.
What’s even worrying for the player is that he hasn’t even come off the bench during the last four matches.
It could even result in him heading for the Everton exit door in the summer, just months after arriving.
Perhaps Alli needs an arm around his shoulder, but that’s Mauricio Pochettino (back end of his reign), Jose Mourinho, Ryan Mason, Nuno Espirito Santo, Antonio Conte and now Lampard where things aren’t working out for him.
So, it’s pretty obvious he can only look at himself as his career hits its biggest crossroad.
