Wilfried Zaha has taken to Instagram to react after Jean-Philippe Mateta made a request to the Crystal Palace supporters.

What’s the story?

Well, in an interview ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup Semi-Final, the £9m striker asked the Crystal Palace fans to shout ‘boom’ every time he kicks the corner flag.

The Frenchman has become well known for his celebration, which involves running over to scissor-kick the corner flag after he scores a goal.

However, Zaha is having none of it, as he took to Instagram to tell his Crystal Palace teammate he has “lost the plot”.

You can see a photo of the Ivory Coast international’s response below.

In our view, Mateta wants Selhurst Park to sound something like Old Trafford after Cristiano Ronaldo scores, where the Manchester United fans shout his trademark ‘siuuu’ which translates to ‘yes’ in Portuguese.

If Zaha isn’t backing it, we’re not sure the Selhurst Park faithful will.

Crystal Palace need Zaha & Mateta to bring A-game vs Chelsea

Last time out against Leicester, Zaha and Mateta simply weren’t on it, nor were most of their teammates, in truth.

The elation of beating Arsenal 3-0 was quickly washed away as Leicester took a 2-0 lead on Sunday before half-time, and went home with a 2-1 win.

As WhoScored shows, Mateta only had 23 touches against the Foxes, despite playing the entire game – James McArthur, who was introduced in the 57th minute, had 34 touches.

Zaha was more positive with two key passes, two shots, a goal and three dribbles to his name, but with his talent, he could’ve done more.

It was also worrying to see him miss two penalties.

Of course, he scored a fortuitous rebound, but if the south Londoners get a spot-kick against Chelsea, few people will be confident in the 29-year-old after Kasper Schmeichel denied him twice.

Having said this, Patrick Vieira will need everyone to bring their A-game, as nothing less will be enough to beat Chelsea, who come into this game after a 6-0 win.
