Micah Richards has stated that Liverpool forward, Diogo Jota, is ‘so clever’ after their 2-2 draw at Manchester City on Sunday, as he told Sky Sports Premier League.

The 25-year-old levelled the scores for Liverpool at the Etihad, when he got on the end of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross, as Richards labelled his movement as ‘perfect’.

That strike was Jota’s 15th Premier League goal of the season and further proof that he has been yet another outstanding purchase by the club.

There were some questioning the club’s move to sign him from Wolves in 2020, but fast forward to today, and he is now a regular starter on Merseyside.

Sky pundit Richards has been impressed by the versatile forward and spoke about his movement for yesterday’s goal.

“With Jota, if you look at his movement,” said Richards. “He has 21 goals in all competitions this season.

“But everyone goes towards the ball. He is so clever. Waits and then finds where the space is. That is the difference between the top strikers and the average striker.

“Find the space whilst everybody runs in. Perfect.”

It will be interesting if Jota starts for Liverpool on Wednesday night when the Reds host Benfica for the second leg of their Champions League tie.

The relief for Jurgen Klopp will be the fact that his team have a two-goal cushion ahead of their Anfield showdown.

So, from that perspective, some of his more important players can be rested because they should see this through.

Then it will be round two of Liverpool’s showdown against Man City, this time in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.
