Norwich City are looking to bring former Premier League defender Marvin Zeegelaar back to England with his contract at Serie A outfit Udinese expiring in July, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb.
It’s becoming a theme of this most topsy-turvy of seasons.
Just when we’re starting to write a team off, they pull off a result like the one Norwich managed at home to Burnley on Sunday afternoon.
Unfortunately for Dean Smith and co, Everton spent the weekend busting accumulators up and down the land too, triumphing 1-0 over a Manchester United side who appear to be turning abject failure into some kind of existential performance art.
Leeds United also claimed three valuable points away at Watford.
As a result, Norwich are still bottom of the table with seven games remaining. It’s not over until the Old Lady sings, of course, but she’s practicing her scales and clearing her throat as the Canaries once again gear themselves up for life back in the Championship.
Who will Norwich City sign this summer?
It remains to be seen whether Zeegelaar, a 31-year-old left-back formerly of Watford, Blackpool and Ajax, would be willing to leave Serie A behind for a club in England’s second tier.
He may not have a choice. His contract expires in a matter of weeks. And, despite his regular run of appearances under Udinese’s ex-Crawley Town coach Gabriele Cioffi, an extension has not been forthcoming thus far.

Zeegelaar may be viewed at Carrow Road as a replacement for Brandon Williams. The England U21 international is due to return to Manchester United when his loan deal runs out at the end of the campaign.
Norwich’s relegation rivals Watford paid £3 million to sign Zeegelaar from Sporting Lisbon in 2017. He made just 12 Premier League appearances before moving on to Udinese however.
