Journalist shares what Paratici and Conte think of £58.5m Tottenham target

Pete O’Rourke has told Give Me Sport that both Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici are huge fans of Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez. The striker is being linked with a move to the Premier League – Spurs are said to be keen.

Martinez, 24, has continued his excellent form for Inter this season – after playing a crucial part in Conte’s Serie A-winning side last term. Alongside Romelu Lukaku up top under Conte, he scored 19 and created 11 in 48.

This season, his goalscoring record is similar, with 16 in 40 so far. But without Lukaku alongside him, the creativity has somewhat dried up – producing just two assists. Inter are second, two points behind Milan.

However, they have a game in hand over their San Siro rivals. TMW report that Tottenham are keen – while CalcioMercato have said Arsenal and Manchester City are also among his admirers at the moment.

Speaking about Martinez, journalist O’Rourke told GMS that both Conte and Paratici are huge admirers of the 37-time Argentina international. SPORT have reported that Inter want around £58.5million for his services.

“I think Fabio Paratici is a big fan of Lautaro Martinez, as is Antonio Conte. If they get any indication that maybe a deal can be done, I’m sure they will consider it,” O’Rourke told Give Me Sport.

Probably not, unless Conte changes his system to mirror the 3-5-2 that won Inter the Serie A title. Currently, Conte is using a 3-4-3 system that incorporates Harry Kane dropping deep and spraying balls to the wingers.

Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski are thriving because of it. Son got a hat-trick on Saturday, Kulusevski got one and Kane secured two assists – he now has five assists in three games. Where does Martinez fit in?

Well, Kane could go and Martinez is just as creative – even if he has not shown it so much this season. If he is to play up top with Kane, Spurs already have a better candidate for that role in Son.
