Brighton and Hove Albion beat Arsenal 2-1 on Saturday afternoon – and have seemingly poked some fun at their former defender Ben White.

The Seagulls were in poor form before heading to North London but produced a superb performance to beat Arsenal.

Belgian attacker Leandro Trossard swept home Enock Mwepu’s pass to fire Brighton in front.

Mwepu then turned goalscorer, with the Zambian star rifling in front the edge of the box to effectively seal the victory.

Martin Odegaard pulled one back late on but Brighton were just too good, securing all three points with a 2-1 win.

That result leaves Arsenal’s top four hopes in doubt having now lost three of their last four Premier League games.

That was just a third league win of 2022 for Brighton, who had claimed just one point from seven games before heading to Arsenal.

This was therefore a huge win for Brighton, who have stopped the rot whilst leaving Ben White’s Champions League hopes in danger.

Brighton developed White into a star and sold him for a huge £50million when Arsenal came calling last summer.

White started against Brighton on Saturday afternoon but couldn’t prevent Brighton from claiming a huge win.

On Sunday, Brighton posted a photo of Trossard celebrating his opening goal alongside midfielder Mosies Caicedo.

Yet the photo also showed White on his knees, crestfallen after going a goal behind at the Emirates Stadium.

This photo seemed rather deliberately chosen, poking a bit of fun at their former defender having beaten him on Saturday.

There will have been no ill-feeling from Brighton having wished him all the best when White left the club for Arsenal.

Yet this win just gave Brighton a chance to lightly mock their former star whilst highlighting the feats of their current stars.
