Tottenham Hotspur hammered Aston Villa 4-0 on Saturday evening, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg going through the wars to help his team to victory.
Antonio Conte’s men knew a win would be huge having seen Arsenal fall to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Brighton and Hove Albion earlier on Saturday.
Son Heung-min’s early goal set Tottenham on their way, though Spurs did have to withstand some fierce Villa pressure.
Dejan Kulusevski took the game away from Villa with a goal early in the second half before Son added a third and fourth for his hat-trick.
Tottenham are now in the box seat for a top-four finish, taking full advantage after Arsenal’s defeat.
This was a real battle though and no players showed that more than Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
The Dane is always up for a battle in Tottenham’s engine room and he was in the wars against Villa.
Hojbjerg took to Twitter after the final whistle at Villa Park to post a photo from the Tottenham dressing room with ice packs on both knees.
The old ice bath routine is standard practice after games but ice packs in a specific area suggests an injury with Hojbjerg no doubt suffering a few kicks.
Hojbjerg noted that it was a case 4, 3, 2 and 1 – four goals, three points, two ice bags and one team win.
Reguilon responded to Hojbjerg’s post with just one word, calling Hojbjerg a ‘warrior’ for his performance against Villa.
Hopefully the injuries are just bumps and bruises for Hojbjerg, with Tottenham facing a big game against Brighton next Saturday.
Having seen Brighton beat Arsenal on Saturday, Conte will want Hojbjerg fit, firing and raring to go for another battle.
