Tottenham Hotspur are now being offered the chance to sign Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio – a player heavily linked with Arsenal.
That’s according to a report from The Sunday Mirror (10/04, p73), who claim that Tottenham and AC Milan are being targeted as Asensio’s next club.
Real want to sell Asensio for around £30million this summer and have told his representatives to find offers.
Tottenham and Arsenal are the first clubs to have been offered Asensio according to this report, with his contract up in 2023.
Asensio, 26, has bagged eight goals in 26 league games this season but only 15 of this games have been as a starter.
Add in that Asensio has played just 160 minutes in Real’s Champiosn League campaign and it seems clear that he has no future at Real.
It’s hard to see Tottenham biting on this offer though.
Yes, Asensio has great quality. He has been branded ‘world class’ by Vicente del Bosque and has now racked up more than 200 appearances for Real.
However, Asensio would want to play on the right flank cutting in on his left foot, just like Dejan Kulusevski.
Kulusevski has been the absolute perfect addition to Tottenham’s attack, meshing beautifully with both Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

Bringing in Asensio would mean one of him or Kulsuevski being out of the side, and that just doesn’t seem like a smart use of funds.
We could still see Asensio head to North London though as Arsenal are allegedly interested in the Spanish international.
Tuttomercatoweb claim that Arsenal have already put a ‘rich proposal’ on the table to Asensio in the hope of a deal.
Arsenal reportedly offered £34million to sign Asensio last summer, so the rumours of their interest do seem to hold some truth.
We would certainly suggest that Arsenal are a more likely destination than Tottenham for Asensio, with AC Milan also a strong contender.
