Tottenham Hotspur smashed Aston Villa 4-0 on Saturday evening – and even Ian Wright is now backing them for a top four finish.

Son Heung-min’s early goal set Tottenham on their way, though they had to stand firm in the face of major pressure from Villa.

Dejan Kulusevski made it 2-0 before Son added two more, completing his hat-trick and a 4-0 victory for Tottenham.

With Arsenal losing 2-1 at home to Brighton and Hove Albion, Tottenham are three points above their North London rivals in the battle for fourth spot.

Arsenal do have a game in hand but Tottenham are now in the box seat four the top four.

That’s now seven wins in the last nine games for Tottenham, with the goals flowing under Antonio Conte.

14 goals in the last four games – with just two conceded – mean Tottenham are on fire and heading towards the Champions League as things stand.

Who could have predicted that when Conte hinted at quitting Tottenham after losing to Burnley in February?

Crucially though, Tottenham do still have to meet Arsenal in a rearranged clash. That game could be vital in deciding the top four battle.

With Arsenal losing both Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey to injury, the Gunners look to have lost their stability.

That’s perfect for Tottenham as they rack up the wins, but it should also be a warning; things can change very quickly.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has now been asked for his prediction over that last Champions League spot.

Speaking on Match of the Day, Wright admitted that he now thinks Tottenham are the favourites for fourth spot.

Wright believes that Tottenham’s attacking play is just so good whereas Arsenal aren’t quite as guaranteed to score with Alexander Lacazette struggling for goals.

“Tottenham – I think especially when you look at how they can score, Arsenal are not scoring,” said Wright when asked to name who would finish fourth.
