Charlie Patino has ran the risk of upsetting Arsenal supporters by ‘liking’ an Instagram post from Son Heung-min after Tottenham Hotspur’s victory on Saturday.
Tottenham hammered Aston Villa 4-0 to move three points clear of Arsenal in the race to qualify for the Champions League.
Earlier on the Saturday, the Gunners slumped to a shock 2-1 defeat by Brighton & Hove Albion at the Emirates Stadium to cap a miserable week for Mikel Arteta, whose outfit lost 3-0 at Crystal Palace on Monday night.
Son scored a hat-trick at Villa Park and reacted on Instagram after the game.
And Patino, the Arsenal wonderkid, has ‘liked’ the post on social media in a move that’ll probably confuse those on the red half of the North London divide.
Arsenal supporters are unlikely to look kindly on Patino’s social media activity, even if he is only 18.
That’s because tensions are high between both clubs right now and the Lilywhites are favourites to qualify for the Champions League at the expense of their North London rivals.
It was in Arsenal’s hands this day last week, but their back-to-back defeats, combined with Spurs’ successive victories, has now tipped the odds in the favour of Antonio Conte’s troops.
Tottenham host the Gunners on May 12 but it’s entirely possible that there’ll be significantly less to play for then, particularly if Mikel Arteta doesn’t stem the tide of defeats.
