Ben Davies has responded to a question posed to him by Sky Sports, by name dropping Christian Eriksen. The Brentford midfielder is being linked with a sensational return to Tottenham – and a reunion with Antonio Conte.
Eriksen, 30, has returned from the dramatic incident in which he collapsed during Euro 2020 – by signing for London side Brentford. Contracted until the summer, Eriksen has also rediscovered his goalscoring touch.
Picked by Denmark after his footballing return with Brentford, he scored twice during the international break. Then, against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Eriksen scored during a stunning 4-1 win for Thomas Frank’s side.
Tottenham defender Davies gave an interview to Sky Sports which was published on Thursday and was asked for his best friend in football. He named a trio of Tottenham players – before also name dropping Eriksen.
“Right now at the club, we’ve got Joe (Rodon), Eric (Dier), Sonny – these are very close – then the boys from Spurs over the years, like Christian Eriksen and the Wales boys as well. I’ve got a good mix of friends of football.”
Davies on Eriksen: Could Brentford man return to Tottenham?
There is a real chance Eriksen could be at Spurs again, next season. Firstly, it must be mentioned that he is a Tottenham icon – even more so since he left, with many Spurs fans bemoaning the club’s inability to replace him.
iNews reported on Thursday that Tottenham are the club showing the most interest in Eriksen. He is out of contract in June, meaning Spurs can pick the Dane up on a free. Another reason, is the current Spurs boss, Conte.
Following a difficult start to life at Inter Milan, Conte dropped him. But Eriksen – rejuvenated after his axe – became crucial to Conte’s Serie A-winning side. He could rejoin Davies, Conte and Tottenham this summer.
