Transfer expert Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that Newcastle will replace Callum Wilson in the summer with a big-name striker signing. Three names are on that list, including Everton star Dom Calvert-Lewin.

Wilson, 30, has managed just 15 appearances all season in which he has scored six Premier League goals. A calf injury has kept him sidelined since the end of December – forcing the Toon to sign Chris Wood from Burnley.

However, Eddie Howe is said to want another striker. He wants, perhaps, a younger striker that can rival both Wood and £20million signing (Sky Sports) Wilson – but eventually replace them with both in their thirties.

GMS journalist Jones have an update on Newcastle’s transfer strategy, claiming that the Toon would bring in a replacement for Wilson. They include Calvert-Lewin – as well as Darwin Nunez, or Patrik Schick.

Schick, Calvert-Lewin or Nunez – which should Newcastle sign?

Newcastle already boast a target man in Wood. He is superb in the air and links the play, but lacks the pace and the goals to fire Newcastle to safety. They need a different type of striker to the New Zealand man.

Wilson has the pace and the strength, but is prone to injury. Leverkusen’s Schick has the goals, the aerial ability, the strength and is only 26. Similarly, Calvert-Lewin has it in abundance too – and is Premier League proven.

But the best of the lot would be Benfica’s Nunez – who netted his 28th goal of the season on Tuesday night against Liverpool. But at £65million (90Min), Newcastle are not expected to be front runners for his signature.
