Ronaldinho has told Spanish outlet Sport that he wants Leeds United winger Raphinha to join Barcelona this summer – amid reports Liverpool are still interested in landing the Brazil international in the coming months.
Raphinha continued his superb form in the Premier League on Saturday with an assist for Jack Harrison – the Whites drew with Southampton. He nabbed his 28th goal involvement in his 58th Premier League game.
Barcelona are widely expected to lure Raphinha to the Nou Camp in the summer; Deco met with his old club to strike a deal for his client earlier this week. But Fabrizio Romano says Raphinha is still a target for Liverpool.
Indeed, he is one of three wingers Jurgen Klopp wants at Anfield – along with PSV’s Cody Gakpo and West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen. Ronaldinho, though, has urged Raphinha to ignore Liverpool and move to Barcelona.
“I would very much like Raphinha to come to Barça, I think he would fit very well with Barça if he comes. I know him very well and he has a lot of quality,” Ronaldinho said, when discussing Leeds star Raphinha.
Ronaldinho on Raphinha: Leeds star better off moving to Barcelona
Raphinha could go to Anfield – but he would find himself on the bench. Mo Salah, whether he signs a new deal or not, is staying at Liverpool for another season – as is Sadio Mane. Luis Diaz was signed in January.
Three brilliant options, meaning Raphinha would be fourth choice. At Barca, it is different. Adama Traore is only on loan and a permanent deal is up in the air. Ousmane Dembele is also set to go, his deal ending in June.
So, Raphinha has much more chance of earning a starting berth at Barca than he does at Liverpool. If he is to leave Leeds, £17million (Athletic) Raphinha should heed Ronaldinho’s advice.
