Kevin de Bruyne has stated Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League title showdown against Liverpool is ‘pretty big’, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (05/04/22 at 10:05 pm).
On Tuesday night, both Liverpool and Manchester City did their respective jobs from their Champions League quarter-final matches, with de Bruyne stating after the game ‘there is still a lot to play for’, regardless of what happens on Sunday.
The relief for Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola is they came out of last night’s games unscathed, even if it’s only de Bruyne’s goal separating them and Atletico Madrid.
Liverpool did race into a 2-0 lead against Benfica, only to be pegged back, before Luis Diaz’s late strike means the Reds now have a two-goal cushion for next week’s Anfield tie.
Nonetheless, de Bruyne was asked about Man City’s eagerly-awaited showdown against Liverpool and he issued this response.
“It’s pretty big,” said de Bruyne. “I think everyone is looking forward to it. I think the players will take it as a privilege to play these games.
“As a player, you want to win games and trophies. If you want to do that, then you need to win these big games.
“Win, draw or lose, then there is still a lot to play for. But we are going to try and play a good game, then we will see.”

Whilst there are going to be many star names on show, de Bruyne is perhaps going to be the main man for Man City.
The likes of Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk will be looking to stand tall for the Reds, but this could well be a pure goal-fest.
The attacking talent that will be on display is incredible and both managers will simply refuse to go on the backfoot.
All in all, whoever wins, they should surely then take the Premier League title home.
