Clinton Morrison has claimed Wilfried Zaha ‘loves Arsenal’ and he wishes they signed him instead of Nicolas Pepe.

The former Crystal Palace striker added the Ivory Coast flyer ‘always raises his game’ when coming up against the likes of Arsenal.

Well, the 29-year-old certainly did that on Monday night when Palace dented Arsenal’s top-four hopes.

After going 2-0 up in the first half, Zaha, who was causing Mikel Arteta’s side problems all game, then proceeded to dance at the team from his own half, into the box, before being fouled by Martin Odegaard.

Zaha dispatched his spot-kick to score his tenth Premier League goal of the season – Pepe has scored 16 since coming to the Premier League.

Nonetheless, this is what Morrison had to say about Zaha and his love for Arsenal, whilst speaking to Premier League Productions.

“Wilfried Zaha has been linked to Arsenal before,” said Morrison “We know he loves Arsenal.

“He likes that football club and he always likes to raise his games against the big team.

“Plus, proving the point that they should have signed him instead of Nicolas Pepe, that’s for sure.”

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has openly stated that he wanted Zaha in north London when he was in the Emirates dugout, as he told the Guardian.

Instead, the Gunners broke the bank and their transfer record to sign Pepe from Lille.

The workings out of that one are pretty clear, as not bringing Zaha to the club has proven to be costly in more ways than one.

But what is Arsenal’s loss is Palace’s gain, as Zaha hopes to fire them to FA Cup glory this season, with Patrick Vieira’s side set to take on Chelsea in the semi-finals next week at Wembley.
