Paul Merson has stated that Liverpool’s transfer target, Jude Bellingham, is a ‘very special’ player.

The Sky pundit added that the Borussia Dortmund and England star reminds him of Arsenal legend, Patrick Vieira, because of the way he ‘bursts forward’ with the ball.

At 18-years-old, Bellingham has the footballing world at his feet and he can pick whatever club he wants to play for in the near future.

That includes one of England’s most historic and successful clubs in Liverpool, with German outlet Bild, reporting that Jurgen Klopp wants to bring the midfielder to Anfield.

Merson told Sky Sports News that Bellingham can ‘pick who he wants to play for’ that’s how good he is.

“I think everybody will (be interested in Bellingham),” said Merson. “I think the kid is phenomenal.

“At his age, his composure and always wanting the ball. There’s not a lot that he can’t do. The way he burst forward, he reminds me of Patrick Vieira and he gets across the pitch very quickly.

“He has got everything. For a young kid, he plays like he’s a 30-years-old head on his shoulders. That’s some going in football.

“It’s so hard, trust me, playing international football. He plays it like he is playing with his mates in the park. I think he is a very special player – he will be able to pick who he wants to play for.”

Bellingham has been on the scene for a number of years already, yet in three years’ time, he will still be considered a youngster.

The sought-after teenager was part of England’s Euro 2020 squad in the summer and is a sure pick to play at his first World Cup in Qatar later this year.

During England’s latest international matches, Bellingham picked up the Man of the Match award as the Three Lions beat the Ivory Coast in a friendly.

Given the impact Bellingham is having on this England side, there are some calls for him to start when Gareth Southgate and his players kick off their World Cup campaign against Iran on November 21st.
