Yesterday, Kalvin Phillips was spotted out on a stroll with the Leeds squad, as the players prepared for the Premier League clash with Southampton.

Admirably, the England international stopped to take photos with fans and sign autographs, although his generosity was overlooked for one reason.

What’s the story?

Well, supporters didn’t have much time to praise Phillips for engaging with fans, as many were bamboozled by the 26-year-old’s choice of footwear.

As you can see below, the Leeds No.23 chose to wear a unique pair of shoes during the stroll, with many online making comments about the odd selection.

One supporter even likened Phillips to Mr Noisy from Roger Hargreaves’ Mr Men series!

If we’re being harsh, that is without mentioning his coat too, which looks like it’s coming apart at the hip.

Nevertheless, it’s good to see footballers stopping to engage with supporters, so we will let Phillips off on this occasion.

Leeds need Kalvin Phillips back ASAP

Unfortunately, Phillips has only been able to make 12 Premier League appearances for Leeds this season, due to hamstring issues.

However, in those 12 outings, Leeds only lost three games, which speaks volumes about how important he is, specifically from a defensive aspect.

The 2020/21 England Player of the Year is a crucial cog at Elland Road. He makes things tick, and his absence leaves a huge gap in the middle of the field.

Hopefully, Jesse Marsch can call upon Phillips for the business end to the campaign, as Leeds aim to stay in the Premier League.
