Jürgen Klopp has been speaking to BT Sport’s Boot Room Boys about a range of topics at Liverpool, where Everton also received a mention.

What’s the story?

Well, you may remember a famous quote from Bill Shankly, when the Anfield icon took a dig at the Toffees.

Shankly once said: “This city has two great teams – Liverpool and Liverpool reserves.”

Now, Klopp has echoed the Liverpool legend with his own dig at Everton.

Speaking to BT Sport, the German said: “The city is big enough for two clubs, a real one and the other one.”

Now, we’re sure Liverpool fans will absolutely love this, as Klopp jokingly plays down the quality of their bitter Merseyside rivals.

The 54-year-old still has a long way to go until he matches Shankly’s level of hatred for Everton, however.

Hilariously, the Liverpool legend also once said that he’d draw the curtains if Everton were playing at the bottom of his garden!

The Toffees supporters will be able to let Klopp know what they think of his comments when Everton make the short trip to Anfield on Sunday 24th April.

Liverpool vs Everton is losing its magic

In our view, the Merseyside derby has lost its magic in recent years, mainly due to Everton’s struggles on the field.

The Toffees are in real danger of being relegated this season, as Frank Lampard has them sat precariously above the relegation zone in 17th, three points above the bottom three.

As a result of Everton’s poor run, they have only won two of the last 28 Merseyside derby affairs, which is truly awful.

It’s been far too easy for Liverpool, and as a result, the aura of the Merseyside derby has taken a hit.

Hopefully, it becomes an entertaining spectacle again very soon.
