Spanish outlet GolsMedia claim that Liverpool and Juventus want to sign Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler, as talks over a new deal at the Mestalla continue to drag on. His current deal at Valencia ends in June 2023.
Soler, 25, has been in stunning form this season – probably the goalscoring form of his life. The six-time Spain international already has 10 goals in 28 games this season, laying on five assists for the La Liga outfit.
That is, despite playing in numerous positions. Mainly as a central midfielder, Soler has also been used on the right and as a 10. That has not stopped the midfielder from producing some of the best form of his career.
Valencia have placed an offer on the table, worth £48,500 a week after tax. But Soler has offers from elsewhere and he has a decision to make. Liverpool are said to have made an offer last summer, and are still keen.
But they are not alone in their pursuit of Soler this time around, with Juventus keen to lure him to Italy. It will be interesting to see what Soler decides, a player that came through the Valencia academy.
Liverpool eye Soler: Valencia star is easily good enough for Anfield
Soler is the heartbeat of Valencia’s side and Liverpool need an addition or two in midfield. Not one that is going start every game, but one that can score goals from deep – and eventually replace the loss of Gini Wijnaldum.
He would be perfect. His contract situation means he might go on the cheap, too. If Liverpool can get Soler for anything less than £30million, especially when he is still only 25, then it is a deal they simply have to take.
