Bayer Leverkusen ‘will not sell’ Patrik Schick to Premier League suitors Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United in the transfer window, the Bundesliga club’s CEO tells Sky Germany.

In a career with it’s fair share of false dawns, its telling that no one was getting too carried away even when Schick made himself the frontrunner for the Puskas Award with that 50-yard wondergoal against Scotland at Euro 2020.

But, having scored 20 times in 20 Bundesliga games this term, that Scotland stunner is starting to feel like the beginning of something special. Like Schick announcing himself on the biggest of stages and refusing to return to the other side of the curtain.

Leverkusen have a history when it comes to selling star players – Kai Havertz and Leon Bailey have both departed in the last two summer windows – and their Czech talisman understandably has plenty of suitors.

According to The Mail, Newcastle United are keen. As are Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and a West Ham side who also made their interest known with Schick’s agent back in 2020, when he was on loan at RB Leipzig from Serie A giants Roma.

Is Patrik Schick heading to the Premier League?

But, with a contract until 2025 at the Bay Arena, Leverkusen are under no pressure to cash in. A point Fernando Carro was keen to make when asked about Schick’s future this week.

“No, we will not sell Patrik Schick. There is no need to talk about that at all,” says the Leverkusen CEO.

“We are very happy that he is with us, and we firmly count on him for the next few years.”

Schick, who narrowly missed out on a move to Juventus a couple of years ago after failing a medical, became the first Leverkusen player in Bundesliga history to score four goals in a single game recently.

In fact, he actually plundered six goals in a 63 minute spell during consecutive league wins over Gruether Furth and Eintracht Frankfurt in December.

“Whether Patrik Schick is world class like Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland? You only have to look at the top scorers in the Bundesliga,” says Leverkusen legend and managing director Rudi Voller (Kicker).

“He scored as many goals as Cristiano Ronaldo at the European Championship. Patrik belongs in the world class category.

“He just has a lot of qualities. His heading game, his speed, his left foot is outstanding.”
