Following what happened with Will Smith at Oscars 2022, fans are wondering if the actor’s actions have had an impact on his Instagram followers count.

The King Richard star has become the center of social media discussions after slapping Chris Rock over a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith.

Whether it was staged or real, viewers and fellow celebrities sure have had a lot to say about the incident.

Incidents of similar nature often result in the said celebrity losing followers on social media. However, this isn’t the case with Will, whose Instagram followers count has only gone up since the Oscars fiasco.

What happened during the Oscars 2022?

Will Smith slapped Chris after the comedian made a remark about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair. He joked that she could star in the sequel of G.I Jane because of her hair.

A few years ago, Jada opened up about her Alopecia diagnosis. It is an autoimmune disorder that causes hair loss.

As a result, the actress has been sporting a shaved look for some time now and Chris’ remark about her appearance irked Will, which led to his actions in front of the whole world this week.

Actor apologizes via IG post

In his latest Instagram post, Will apologized to Chris and everyone else for his ‘unacceptable’ behavior at this year’s event.

“My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally,” he wrote.

“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness. “

The actor also apologized to the Academy, the attendees and the creators of the show, King Richard.
