Tottenham Hotspur want Andrea Cambiaso in the Premier League with Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici planning another Serie A raid, as reported by Alfredo Pedulla.
Spurs have had their fair share of false dawns in recent times. But, since the mid-season arrivals of two Juventus benchwarmers, there has been an unmistakable air of optimism in this particular corner of the capital.
Dejan Kulusevski, with two goals and four assists, already looks like an upgrade on the limited Steven Bergwijn and the frustrating Lucas Moura. Rodrigo Bentancur, meanwhile, has formed an impressive partnership with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg already, adding the guile to the Dane’s grit.
According to reports in Italy, Spurs are looking at another Serie A talent as the summer window looms into view, perhaps in the hope that he can emulate the immediate impacts made by Kulusevski and Bentancur.
Cambiaso, an Italy U21 international left-back who plies his trade at Genoa, is available for a bargain fee of just £12 million. That his because, come July, his contract will have just 12 months left to run.
Is Andrea Cambiaso Tottenham’s next signing?
Alfredo Pedulla points out that, should Spurs step up their interest, Conte and Paratici will face competition from their former employers. Juventus and Inter Milan also want Cambiaso. As do a Napoli side chasing their first Scudetto crown since the heady days of Diego Maradona.

The former Empoli loanee was also linked with Leicester City and Watford a few months ago. That was, of course, until his agent ruled out a January move.
A summer departure feels like a very real possibility however. Although, in a potential blow to Tottenham’s hopes, Pedulla believes that Cambiaso is more likely to stay in Serie A than follow Kulusevski and Bentancur to England.

“He was very keen to finish the season in Genoa,” Cambiaso’s agent explained two months ago.
“In June, we hope that Genoa will be saved from relegation and that offers will arrive, taking the boy to more prestigious teams to improve his level. If this happens, we must all be happy.”
