According to Variety, in the 2000s, doctors diagnosed the American actress and choreographer with a case of viral encephalitis.
Mayo Clinic reveals that encephalitis is the inflammation of the brain and its most common cause is a viral infection.
The condition can cause confused thinking, seizures, and even problems with movement. It can also interfere with an individual’s senses such as sight or hearing.
While the doctors had predicted that Liza would spend most of her life in a wheelchair in 2000, the actress quickly recovered and went on to perform her solo show “Liza’s Back” in New York and London.
