Memphis Depay and Denzel Dumfries praised Tottenham’s Steven Bergwijn on Instagram after he netted a brace for the Netherlands during their 4-2 win over Denmark on Saturday.

The Spurs speedster scored on either side of the half to hand his country the victory during their friendly encounter.

Both Depay and Dumfries started the game, alongside Bergwijn, with Barcelona’s superstar scoring from the penalty spot.

Nonetheless, after the game, when Bergwijn expressed his delight at his performance, Depay labelled him a ‘lion’ in the comments section of his IG post.

Whilst Inter Milan’s very own flyer labelled the £27 million Tottenham man (BBC Sport) a ‘top player’.

The scorecard may well read a 4-2 win to the Dutch, but it was Christian Eriksen who stole the headlines after the game, despite his side’s defeat.

Within minutes of coming onto the pitch, the Brentford man scored for his country with a quite brilliant first-time finish.

That was Eriksen’s first action of play for Denmark since those scary scenes that saw the playmaker collapse during Euro 2020.

When the 30-year-old was introduced into the action at half-time, he got a warm reception from the Dutch crowd.

And minutes later, he was wheeling away in jubilation, which even put a smile on the face of the opposition.
