Everton wanted to sign Hector Bellerin from Arsenal in the summer of 2021, according to The Athletic.
The report has claimed that Everton looked at a potential loan deal for Arsenal right-back Bellerin.
However, according to the report, the potential move ‘failed to get off the ground’.
Arsenal also reportedly wanted to sign Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who can operate as a right-back or in midfield, on loan from Arsenal.
However, the Gunners did not let the England international leave for Everton, who had Rafael Benitez as their head coach at the time.
Frank Lampard is now the Everton manager.
Maitland, 24, joined AS Roma on loan from Arsenal in the January transfer window.
Bellerin switched to Real Betis on loan from the Gunners in the summer of 2021.

Everton should try for Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin again
In our opinion, Arsenal should make a move for Bellerin again in the summer transfer window, if they retain their Premier League.
Seamus Coleman is past his prime, and while Nathan Patterson is hugely talented, he is still only 20.
Now, Bellerin may not want to move back to England as he is happy at Betis, but you never know what’s in store in the future.
The right-back is in his prime at 27, and Everton manager Frank Lampard could be able to tempt him.
