Some Arsenal insiders believe that William Saliba is overhyped, according to The Athletic.

The Athletic have reported that there are some at London Colney who suggest that ‘the hype around Saliba outweighs the talent’.

The report has added that there are others at Arsenal who feel that the young French central defender has done enough to feature for the Gunners.

Arsenal paid Saint-Etienne £27 million to sign Saliba (Sky Sports).

The 21-year-old central defender is on loan at Marseille at the moment, having failed to impress Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta during the short period he was at London Colney.

The Athletic have reported that Saliba himself is open to returning to Arsenal at the end of the season.

William Saliba should get Arsenal chance

In our opinion, Arsenal manager Arteta should give Saliba a chance in the Premier League next season.

Yes, Ben White and Gabriel are the two main centre-backs for the Gunners right now, but Saliba is very talented and merits at least a few games in the Premier League.

We will never know if Saliba is good enough or not in the Premier League if he does not feature in the English top fight.
