According to ABC, Arsenal have increased their contract offer to Ronald Araujo, as Barcelona struggle to agree terms with the defender.
What’s the story?
Well, it seems Arsenal aren’t giving up on the Uruguay international, who is also wanted by Liverpool and Manchester City.
It was Sport who revealed that Pep Guardiola recently had dinner with Araujo’s agent to discuss his client’s availability.
Elsewhere, a separate report from Sport claimed Liverpool are keen on the man with a £167m release clause.
However, Arsenal are the ones making the biggest moves.
Recently, the Gunners offered Araujo a contract worth £96,153-a-week, with his current terms at the Camp Nou set to expire in June.
That was obviously rejected, as the north Londoners have now come in with an offer of €8m-a-year (£6.7m), which equates to £128,846-a-week.
Interestingly, ABC claim Araujo is said to be uncomfortable at the Camp Nou, as he feels he is not being offered what he deserves.
Arsenal could make a statement by beating Liverpool and Manchester City

In our view, Arsenal could make a big statement to the rest of Europe if they fend off Liverpool and Manchester City to sign Araujo.
Furthermore, ABC believe Barcelona are desperate to keep the South American, so Arsenal could actually embarrass three of the biggest clubs in Europe if they win this race.
Araujo has the potential to become one of the best centre-backs on the planet, and the Gunners are clearly determined to sign him having returned with an improved offer.

However, we’re not sure he’s needed at the Emirates Stadium.
Arteta already has Ben White and Gabriel Magalhães to choose from, while William Saliba is also returning this summer – the Gunners also have Rob Holding.
Arteta only uses two centre-backs, so he doesn’t need five in the squad.
Nevertheless, Arsenal seem to be huge fans of Araujo, so keep an eye on this interesting transfer saga.
