Tottenham Hotspur may have been linked with Paulo Dybala, but new reports claim they can’t actually meet the demands of the Juventus star.

Dybala is set to leave Juventus at the end of the season having failed to come to an agreement over a new contract.

The Argentinian will now be one of the hottest free agents on the market and many clubs around Europe will be desperate to sign him.

90Min claim that Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have all been kept informed about Dybala’s future.

That may leave Tottenham fans hoping that Dybala will finally arrive in North London.

Tottenham attempted an audacious deal for Dybala in August 2019 but that move famously fell through.

Just as Tottenham supporters may have thought a move was possible again, Italian reports are pouring cold water on the rumours.

Tuttomercatoweb claim that Tottenham seem unable to meet Dybala’s financial demands as things stand.

Inter Milan are willing to offer around £112,500-a-week, which would fit into Tottenham’s pay structure, but Dybala is expected to earn much more.

With Paris Saint-Germain ready to make a move, you can imagine that Dybala’s wages – and signing-on fee – will become huge very quickly.

It’s also worth asking just where Dybala – even though he has been branded a ‘complete player’ – would fit into this Tottenham right now.

Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and Harry Kane have something great going and Dybala would ideally want to play as a number 10.

That role doesn’t exist in Antonio Conte’s current Tottenham setup, so he would be shoved out on the right flank and playing over Kulusevski.

Kulusevski is young and exciting whilst Dybala is turning 29 in November and commanding big money, meaning he doesn’t quite fit what Tottenham need right now.

Quite simply, Tottenham may need to accept that the ship has sailed on Dybala joining any time soon.
