Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have reportedly made an offer to Ronald Araujo, and so have Manchester United, and based on the Barcelona central defender’s performance against Real Madrid in El Clasico, it is easy to see why.
Arsenal interest in Ronald Araujo
Barcelona shocked Madrid 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday evening, and one of the star players in the La Liga game was Arsenal target Araujo.
Well-known and well-respected journalist Gerard Romero reported only on March 15 that Arsenal and Manchester United have made an offer to the Uruguay international centre-back, who is out of contract at Camp Nou in the summer of 2023.
The Gunners are reportedly willing to pay €6 million (£5.04m) per year as salary.
And then just days later the 23-year-old went and gave a masterclass performance for Barcelona against Madrid in what is arguably the biggest club game in world football.

El Clasico heroics
Spanish publication Sport have described Araujo’s performance as “outstanding” and have praised him for winning his duel against Madrid forward Vinicius Junior.
The youngster scored in the 38th minute as well.
Araujo was actually deployed on the right side of defence rather than at centre-back, but he still got 9 out of 10 from Sport.
The youngster had a pass accuracy of 88.5%, won two headers, and took 66 touches.
