Estadio Deportivo claim Tottenham are expected to sell Giovani Lo Celso in the summer, as he continues to impress on loan at Villarreal. It is believed that Lo Celso will be one of the ‘most-desired’ transfers in the summer.

Lo Celso, 25, only managed 233 minutes of Premier League football during the first half of the 2021-22 campaign at Tottenham. It saw Antonio Conte allow the Argentina international to leave the club on loan, for Villarreal.

The Copa America winner has since excellent for Villarreal, and while he has not scored or created a goal in his eight appearances – he has started all seven of Villarreal’s last seven games. Including, two against Juventus.

Forming a two-man attack with Arnaut Danjuma, Lo Celso was part of the side that put Juventus to the sword on Tuesday night – as Villarreal won 3-0 in Turin. Now, Estadio Deportivo give an update regarding his future.

They claim that £70,000-a-week (Spotrac) Lo Celso is ‘most-likely’ to leave Tottenham permanently. They also report that Lo Celso promises to be one of the ‘most-desired’ players in the summer window, with Spurs selling.

Lo Celso future: Tottenham right to sell in-form Villarreal loanee?

While it is clearly evident that Lo Celso has bags of quality, he is simply not the right fit for Tottenham. He might have been under Mauricio Pochettino, but injuries prevented any kind of momentum.

He showed glimpses of form under Jose Mourinho, playing in a deep-lying playmaker role. But Antonio Conte prefers to use defensive-minded midfielders, instead of playmakers. He does not fit Conte’s Spurs.

Spurs will likely cash in this summer, though getting a fee of £27million for Lo Celso – the figure Spurs paid Real Betis – is unlikely. If Spurs can get north of £15million, then it is certainly a good bit of business.
