Martin Keown has sent a warning to David Moyes’s West Ham United on talkSPORT (12:49pm, March 18, 2022) following the Europa League draw against Lyon.
Premier League club West Ham will take on French side Lyon in the quarter-finals of the Europa League this season.
Arsenal legend Keown believes that the Hammers cannot get complacent against Lyon.
Keown said: “We know from the way they are playing right now, Lyon won’t be an easy task for them.
“It’s about getting that one out of the way and what’s on the horizon, potentially Barcelona is a mouth-watering semi-final.”
West Ham could win v Lyon in Europa League
In our opinion, West Ham could win against Lyon in the quarter-finals of the Europa League this season.
Yes, Lyon have a better European pedigree and are doing well in the Europa League this season, but West Ham have a strong squad.
The Hammers got the better of Sevilla in the last round, and we know that it is not an easy task to win against the La Liga club in the Europa League.
Sevilla are regulars in Europe, but West Ham could still win against them over two legs.
That shows the quality that West Ham manager Moyes at his disposal.
Now, of course, West Ham’s Europa League quest depends on injury problems and how fit Moyes’s players are for the two games.
But, in our view, West Ham have what it takes to win against Lyon.
