Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that on-loan Celtic ace Cameron Carter-Vickers wants to secure a permanent move to the Hoops from Tottenham this summer. That is, despite Premier League interest in his services.

Carter-Vickers, 24, has been excellent for Celtic since joining the club on loan from Tottenham. It is the eight-time USA star’s seventh loan club, after Swansea, Stoke, Luton, Ipswich, Bournemouth and Sheffield United.

SBI Soccer reported earlier this month that Tottenham want £10million for Carter-Vickers – with his Spurs deal ending in june 2023. Leicester, Wolves, Bournemouth and Watford all showing interest in the powerhouse star.

But journalist Jones has told GMS that Carter-Vickers has made his choice – and it is to stay at Celtic come the summer. Celtic do have a permanent option in his loan deal from Spurs, which is believed to be worth £6million.

“I think that Carter-Vickers is very keen, because he feels like he can become part of the project there long-term, and I think it’s one that is realistic to be honest,” Jones said, when discussing a permanent Celtic deal.

Yes, Carter-Vickers would be somewhat expensive for the Hoops at £6million. But the American has helped Celtic return to the top of the Premiership table, with 18 clean sheets in his 37 appearances.

Celtic have also benefited from his impact in the opposition box too – with Carter-Vickers registering three goals so far, doubling his tally in senior football. At £6million, he is a bargain for the Hoops.
