Luisao has told Benfica’s official Instagram page that the Portuguese club can win against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the Champions League this season.

Liverpool will take on Benfica in the quarter-finals of the Champions League this campaign.

The first leg of the tie will be held in Portugal, and the second leg will be played at Anfield.

Both the matches will be played in April.

Benfica legend Luisao believes that the Portuguese club can get the better of Liverpool over two legs in the Champions League quarter-finals this season.

The Brazilian has reminded everyone what happened in the Champions League between Benfica and Liverpool back in 2006.

Liverpool lost 3-0 to Benfica over two legs and failed to successfully defend their Champions League crown.

Luisao played in the tie for Benfica.

The Brazilian now works as the Benfica Technical Director.

Benfica’s Luisao on Liverpool

Luisao told Benfica’s official Instagram page: ”It’s a difficult draw, challenging for us, but I can remember 2006 when we won and Liverpool were the last European champions.”

In our opinion, Liverpool will head into the tie against Benfica as favourites and should be able to win it over two legs.

Now, of course, we should not take Benfica lightly.

After all, over two legs in a knockout tie, anything is possible.

However, we think that Liverpool have too much for Benfica to cope with.

Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Luis Diaz, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson are among the world-class players Liverpool manager Klopp has at his disposal.
