Tony Gale heaped praise on Rodrigo Bentancur by claiming that the Tottenham new boy ‘covers a lot of ground’, as he told Sky Sports Football.
The ex-West Ham United player watched Bentancur in action on Wednesday night, as Spurs beat Brighton 2-0 and claimed that the midfielder looked like a ‘very good signing’.
Bentancur arrived in north London during the January transfer window, when he swapped Juventus’s colours for Tottenham’s.
From the moment he was handed a start, the 24-year-old impressed his new supporters and he is only taking his game to higher levels.
Brighton may well be in a bad run of form, but Bentancur still showcased his worth against a strong midfield and Gale was impressed by what he saw.
“Bentancur has had a good game,” said Gale. “He has covered a lot of ground for Spurs.
“There he goes again! He is always covering in front of that back three. He covers a lot of ground. He anticipates very well, but is also very quick off the floor as well.
“Spots a pass, like he did with Harry Kane for the goal. He looks like a very good signing, for me.”

This is just further proof that Antonio Conte needs proper backing during the summer transfer window and Spurs will make strides forward.
It could be argued that Dejan Kulusevski, who also arrived during the winter transfer window from Turin once again, has had a better and bigger impact on the club.
There are a few January signings, including Aston Villa’s Philippe Coutinho, that have produced outstanding performances.
Kulusevski’s name should be right up there because, not only is he producing the numbers, but he looks like he was made for England’s top-flight.
