Tony Gale has claimed that Eric Dier’s head was ‘like a magnet’ to the ball during Tottenham’s 2-0 win at Brighton on Wednesday night, as he told Sky Sports Football.
The former West Ham defender praised Dier’s performance at the Amex Stadium and added that he had a ‘very good’ game for his side.
During the match, Tottenham’s hard-hitting defender got a cut to his head following a challenge from Brighton’s Neal Maupay.
The 28-year-old then returned in the second half with a bandage around his head like England legend, Terry Butcher
But that didn’t stop Dier from heading out everything that came his way last night, as Gale praised his performance.
“Eric Dier’s head seems to be like a magnet on that ball,” said Gale. “He has never flinched once, despite getting that early cut on his forehead.
“He has never flinched once away from the header. You have to commend his bravery, Eric Dier. He is having a very good game for Spurs.”

Even though Spurs have been so uncertain this season, under both of their managers, one perhaps constant has been Dier.
Antonio Conte has a player, leader and an experienced figure at the back to build his defence around.
Cristian Romero has come in and shown serious signs of quality and aggression that was needed for Tottenham’s backline.
It’s just a case of Conte now finding more consistent performers that can maintain their place in his back three or five.
That may have to come via the transfer market or players like Matt Doherty improving and showing signs that they can take that spot.
