Youri Tielemans has cast doubt on a potential move to Premier League giants Liverpool or Arsenal, telling HBVL that he could still stay at Leicester City.
What is it they say about ‘assumptions’? They may an ‘ass’ out of you and I, right?
And, should Tielemans end up signing a new deal at the King Power Stadium, plenty of pundits will be left feeling like a bit of a donkey. Especially after months of sustained speculation regarding Leicester’s £40 million Belgium international.
According to Goal, Arsenal recently held talks with the former Monaco and Anderlecht’s stars agent regarding a potential move to the Emirates Stadium.
Is Youri Tielemans staying at Leicester City?
What’s more, Tielemans has just over 12 months left on his contract. And, until now, he had shown little inclination towards signing an extension.
Leicester, after all, are currently stuck in 12th place, closer to the relegation zone than the Champions League positions.
But, when quizzed on his future at Leicester, Tielemans sounded like a man leading towards a new deal rather than one packing his bags and scouring the North London housing market.
“Yes, why not (stay at Leicester),” replies Tielemans.
“This is a club where you have the best environment you can have. Especially with this new training ground. The people around you just want the best for you.

“It’s brilliant here. I really like it here.
“We’ll see what’s coming in the future. But I think the environment is just perfect to win trophies here. You can’t predict the future but I think everything around the club and inside the club is made for it.”
How much will Tielemans cost?
They do say it’s the hope that kills you, however.
The fact remains that, if Tielemans does not put pen to paper sooner rather than later, Leicester may be forced to start seriously considering offers for perhaps the most valuable member of Rodgers’ squad.
Tielemans won’t be an easy man to replace. But finding a successor would be a whole lot harder if last season’s FA Cup hero departs for free.
