Gianluca Scamacca has told Corriere dello Sport that a transfer abroad ‘doesn’t scare’ him and interest from ‘big clubs’ is flattering, with Tottenham eying a deal for the Sassuolo ace.
The Italian has put his name on shortlists around Europe after thriving on his return to the Mapei Stadium last summer. Scamacca spent the previous season on loan with Genoa and began to establish a prolific record in front of the net toward the end of the 2020/21 term.
He hit six goals over the 23-year-old’s final eight Serie A appearances with the Grifone. And Scamacca returned to the Luigi Ferraris Stadium with Sassuolo in October to strike his first of the current term. The two-cap international has since gone on to reach 12 in 27 games.

Like for Genoa, once Scamacca found some consistency at Sassuolo and a starting role in Alessio Dionisi’s side, there has been no looking back. Of his Serie A goals this term so far, 10 have come in his last 15 games. He has also scored against AC Milan, Inter and Napoli.
Inter, Milan and Juventus now hope to prise Scamacca from Dionisi’s clutches at the end of the season. Gazzetta dello Sport note the Serie A big-hitters, plus Tottenham, are tracking Scamacca’s Sassuolo efforts. But the Neroverdi value him at €40m (£34m), per Tuttosport.
Possible Sassuolo exit ‘doesn’t scare’ £34m Tottenham target Gianluca Scamacca
No side proved willing to pay the Neroverdi’s asking price in January, while Juventus signed Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina. But Dean Jones claims Tottenham ‘definitely’ explored the Sassuolo striker and they may look to sign Scamacca if Antonio Conte requests his transfer.

Moving to England would not be an issue for the Rome-born talent, who previously played in the Netherlands for PSV Eindhoven’s academy before returning on loan with Pec Zwolle.
He also finds speculative interest from clubs like Inter Milan and Juventus flattering. But Scamacca will let his heart dictate any transfer away from Sassuolo in the summer market.
“I don’t think about it,” Scamacca explained. “I’ve never set myself limits. When there is a decision, I will follow my heart. I went abroad once and it doesn’t scare me to make that choice again.
“The voices of interest from big clubs are pleasing, they are a stimulus. But I don’t follow the transfer market too much, certain situations don’t materialise quickly.”
