According to Sport, Aston Villa are now interested in signing Barcelona glovesman Neto, who is also a target for Everton.
What’s the story?
Well, it seems Steven Gerrard is considering a move which would disrupt Frank Lampard’s plans at Goodison Park.
Sport believe the Villans have identified Neto as a target in case Emiliano Martinez departs Villa Park this summer.
Barcelona are happy to let the Brazilian leave the Camp Nou, and have slapped a €14m (£12m) price tag on the South American shot-stopper.
Sport add that Barcelona would also be open to an initial loan deal, involving an option to buy in 2023.
It is said that Neto is tired of being ostracised at Barcelona, as he struggles to dislodge Marc-André ter Stegen from the No.1 spot.
So far this season, the 32-year-old has only made three appearances in all competitions – you can see why he wants to leave.
Neto represents interesting opportunity for Aston Villa and Everton

In our view, you won’t find many goalkeepers of Neto’s quality for £12m.
Barcelona signed the Brazil international from Valencia back in June 2019 for a sum of €35m (£29m), which speaks volumes about his ability.
Barcelona clearly had high hopes for Neto, as they also inserted a release clause worth €200m (£168m) in his contract.

We’re unsure if Neto would displace Jordan Pickford or Martinez at Everton or Aston Villa, but for just £12m, it’s a deal worth doing given his pedigree.
Keep an eye on this saga, as Neto seems destined to leave Catalonia this summer.
