Liverpool are seeking a fee worth around £23million for defender Joe Gomez amid interest from Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.

Reports from Anfield Watch and Graeme Bailey earlier this week suggested that Everton had joined the race to sign Gomez.

A move to local rivals Everton seems a little unlikely this summer, especially given their perilous battle against relegation.

Newcastle, Tottenham and West Ham are also thought to be keen on signing Gomez, with Liverpool facing an interesting situation.

Jurgen Klopp loves Gomez, branding him ‘incredible’ as recently as last month.

Yet Gomez is allegedly fearing for his spot in the England squad ahead of the World Cup and knows he needs to be playing.

Gomez has been relegated to fourth-choice centre back at Liverpool, having to sit behind Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Ibrahima Koante.

That’s no good for Gomez, who may now seek a move away from Liverpool this summer with a long line of suitors ready and waiting.

The Express now claim that Liverpool are seeking a fee of around £23million for Gomez this summer with Fulham also interested.

Liverpool paid around £3.5million to sign Gomez in 2015, meaning they would be seeking a profit of around £20million on the defender.

Considering Liverpool raked in around £19million for Dominic Solanke, £23million for an England international defender with more than two years left on his contract seems cheap for a Liverpool sale.

At that price, you can expect offers from a host of Premier League clubs who will all see Gomez as a first-choice option rather than fourth-choice at Anfield.

Newcastle will certainly have that kind of money given PIF’s takeover whilst Tottenham could shift Cristian Romero to the middle of their back three and use Gomez on the right.

They seem like the most likely destinations for Gomez this summer with Liverpool seemingly open to a sale at the end of the season.
