Matteo Guendouzi has been speaking on Marseille’s Twitch channel about his decision to leave Arsenal on a permanent basis.
The £49,000-a-week man left the Emirates Stadium back in July for a season-long loan at the Stade Vélodrome, where he will now stay.
When speaking about his decision, Guendouzi sounded very pleased to be leaving Arsenal for good.
What’s the story?
As quoted by le10sport, the 22-year-old said: “I got the call from the president and the manager, who simply told me they wanted me and explained the project that was underway at Marseille. From the first talks that we had, I knew it was the club I needed to go to.
“I trust this team, the staff and the people who works in this club because I know that I can continue to grow as a footballer, as a man, so it was a well thought out choice. A very good choice, like I said, one of the best choices for a very long time.”
We’re not sure if that was intended as an insult aimed at Arsenal, although it’s clear that Guendouzi is enjoying himself far more at Marseille.

After all, he and Mikel Arteta never really saw eye to eye, with Football London claiming that the France international ignored chances of redemption after being punished by the Spaniard.
Nevertheless, it’s obvious that Guendouzi is enjoying himself in Ligue 1, as the numbers speak volumes.
The Poissy-born maestro has scored four goals this season, while also providing 12 assists.
To record 16 goal involvements from midfield takes some doing, so Guendouzi deserves credit for his impact in the final third.
Arsenal better off without Matteo Guendouzi
Arteta is creating a disciplined culture at Arsenal, where troublemakers have no future at the club.
The 39-year-old had no qualms about offloading big names such as Mesut Özil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and despite his obvious talent, the Gunners are better off without Guendouzi.

He seemed to be a disruptive presence, as well as a rebellious figure who would never fully buy into what Arteta hoped to achieve in north London.
Now, with Guendouzi set to depart for good, the Spaniard can at least reinvest the funds into a player who will commit themselves to his project.
