Jamie O’Hara has labelled Cristian Romero as ‘disrespectful’ for screaming in the face of Harry Maguire, as he told talkSPORT.

Over the weekend, Spurs suffered a 3-2 defeat at Manchester United, with Cristiano Ronaldo netting a hat-trick at Old Trafford.

But, at one point during the game, Antonio Conte’s side equalised to make it 2-2, with Maguire putting the ball into the back of his own net.

As soon as that happened, Romero, who was right next to the English defender, proceeded to scream in the player’s face as he sat on the floor.

That’s something that didn’t sit well with former Spurs man O’Hara, who added that moment from Romero ended up coming to bite him on the back.

“I was always chirpy in the dressing room,” said O’Hara. “I was always up for a bit of a laugh and a bit of banter.

“But. not on the pitch. I just think that’s disrespectful. It’s disrespectful doing that on the pitch.

“It ends up coming back to bite him anyway because Ronaldo scoring the winner and they go off celebrating Romero’s part of that incident from the corner, where he should have done better.

“For me, I just find that disrespectful. Play your game. If you go off the pitch, celebrate with your teammates.”

Romero has started to become a bit of a fan favourite with the Spurs supporters because of the aggression and passion he has been showcasing out on the pitch.

Added with that, alongside Eric Dier, his performances have been top-draw, it’s now a case of another defender stepping up in that back three.

For a number of weeks now, Spurs have won, lost, won, lost… and continued to proceed in that order.

Given that they suffered a defeat at Man United last time out, they are probably due a win against Brighton tonight.

Any dropped points against Graham Potter’s men won’t go down well because they have lost five Premier League games on the bounce.
