According to Fabrizio Romano, West Ham will make a move for Darwin Nunez in the summer, with Arsenal and Newcastle also interested.
What’s the story?
Well, this would be quite the signing for West Ham, although Arsenal and Newcastle will probably do their best to prevent it.
Romano claims the Hammers submitted a €48m (£40m) bid for Nunez on deadline day in January, which was rejected by Benfica.
It was the Evening Standard who revealed Arsenal are keen to sign the Uruguay international, who is valued at £60m.
Elsewhere, iNews claimed that Newcastle were planning to accelerate their interest in the 22-year-old.
Romano believes West Ham have “good chances” of securing the South American this summer, when Benfica will be more open to a sale.
So far this season, Nunez has scored 26 goals in 33 appearances, while also providing two assists.
West Ham, Arsenal or Newcastle could land an incredible No.9

In our view, whoever wins the race to sign Nunez will be getting a phenomenon capable of leading the line for the next decade.
At the age of just 22, the Artigas-born poacher is rapidly developing into a world class striker – he only scored 14 goals last term, so his progress is clear for all to see.
Last night, Nunez even fired Benfica into the Champions League Quarter-Final with a towering header against Ajax to win the tie by a 3-2 scoreline on aggregate.

Arsenal desperately need a new No.9 to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, while West Ham also need to find some competition for Michail Antonio.
In Newcastle’s case, they have Callum Wilson and Chris Wood, although Nunez would be a significant upgrade on the pair.
Keep an eye on this saga, as Nunez will be hot property this summer.
