Antonio Conte has declared himself delighted at the form of Tottenham hero Harry Kane after he scored again on Wednesday night – during a 2-0 win over Brighton. Conte admits that Kane “struggled” earlier in the season.

Kane, 28, made it five goals from four Premier League games as he finished superbly with his weaker left foot to double Tottenham’s lead against the Seagulls – after Cristian Romero had put Spurs 1-0 up in the first half.

The England skipper broke another record with the goal, scoring the largest number of away goals with 95 – surpassing Wayne Rooney’s record of 94. The striker now has 22 goals for the season, 12 in the Premier League.

Speaking after the match – as per BBC Live – Conte shared his delight at Kane’s improving form, admitting that the Spurs star “struggled” earlier this season. It came, after missing out on a move to Manchester City.

“It is an outstanding achievement for him but we are talking about a world-class striker. I am pleased for Harry to score in this way because at the start of the season he struggled a bit and didn’t score a lot,” Conte said.

“Now he knows very well with this team he has great opportunities to score in every game. To have a striker like him makes us stronger but at the same time his feeling now is positive because he knows he will have chances.”

Conte on Kane: Tottenham star is back to his best under Italian boss

Conte is bringing the best out of Kane – similar to the incredible form he showed under Jose Mourinho, and some of the form he produced under Mauricio Pochettino. But he is becoming a leader, too.

The difference between Conte and Mourinho, is that Conte is getting the best out of his teammates as well. Eric Dier, Matt Doherty and plenty of other Spurs stars have improved with Conte in the hotseat.

Could Conte improving his form convince Kane that Tottenham is the place to be come the end of the season? Well, getting fourth place would certainly help. Even fifth, if the summer sees Spurs bring in some brilliant signings.
