Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has changed the agency that represents him ahead of the summer transfer window – with Newcastle among the clubs interested. The Record report that Morelos is out of contract in 2023.

Morelos, 25, is back to his best after a tricky couple of seasons in which he lacked the consistency and prowess that Rangers fans know he is capable of. His best season came in 2019-20, scoring 29 goals in 47 appearances.

This season, he has 19 in 40 – and has laid on an impressive eight assists. He was struggling to find form under Steven Gerrard – but the introduction of Gio van Bronckhorst has got the best out of him, once again.

However, his long-term future is in doubt. His current deal expires in 2023, and The Record report he has now changed agents – to Footfeel and Echo Sports. They look after big names like Achraf Hakimi, Lautaro Martinez.

With the agency boasting strong connections in England, Spain and Italy, it is perhaps the first sign that Morelos could leave Rangers in the summer. 90Min reported in January that Newcastle wanted the Colombian star.

Ibrox exit for Rangers star Morelos? Newcastle would be ideal move

One of two things must happen ahead of the summer. Either Rangers hand Morelos a new deal – or Morelos rejects a new contract, and the Gers will have to cash in. Rangers cannot afford to let him run down his current deal.

He is likely to still bring in a fee well north of £10million even with his current contract situation. Newcastle need a striker and he would offer something different to Callum Wilson and Chris Wood.
